    I didn't know what to make of you at first Phil but now I'm starting to think you're possibly the only vocal coach on UA-cam who isn't a complete grifter. Or is it that all these other vocal coaches and singing teachers just ASSUME that the student already has a strong, high voice, and so the techniques they teach just happen to work?

    I don't understand any of this. You keep saying there is no mix voice, only chest voice, etc. Then you talk about this "other chest voice" that you "break into and out of". This is very confusing. Why call everything "just chest voice" if these are completely different registers you break into and out of? It's like calling all animals a "pig". What is this "other chest voice"? What is the difference between that and falsetto? How you get there? Etc.

      @@philmoufarrege I'm asking for sure! I like your content but the whole "it's all just chest voice" thing seems to make things really hard to follow, in a literal/practical sense. Like, in this video you talk about "the other chest voice". Ok... So I wanted to check if you had other videos about "the other chest voice" but since all of your videos are about "chest voice", that would be impossible to find. Btw, I understand that with this you mean something like "M1", and this is good advice in general. But maybe the reason people classify things and give them all the silly names is so that you can at least "index" the different approaches to singing. Because just referring to things as "the chest voice" and "these n approaches to refined chest voice" and "this other kind of chest voice", etc, makes it so you can't know what is happening. One thing is that, when people are recording with microphones, on our side we have no clue what is the actual volume the person is singing in the video. So in this particular video here, I listened a few times and I have nooo clue what the guy is doing or trying to do. Also it seems to me from my own practice that pharyngeal voice and actual mixing of M1 and M2, together with messa di voce exercices (which are literally impossible above the passaggio if you can't mix actual M1 and M2) are huge secrets to good singing. You seem to go with a different approach, so it is pretty surprising and a kind of wtf moment to see you doing this kind of "yodelling" between "two kinds of chest voice", it threw me off balance on my understanding of things a little bit. Of course I do want to hear from you and I don't mean any of this as a criticism but only to expose the confusion!

    Hi Phil, i have always struggled lifting weights and singing. I feel like afterwards my chords just don't come together the same way and my resonance is gone after lighting heavy. @philmoufarrege 25 днів тому

      I go through this phase to build the vocal range, stability, compression and stable larynx. once this is automated we then begin balancing the overly squeezed thing by sending more airflow through. this gets to the point where the squeeze is completely hidden but still very loud and rigid feeling. then the next step is we begin softening and loosening the squeeze which you can see in this video: ua-cam.com/video/7X-CFTg7F7A/v-deo.html&lc=Ugwy42ls61OuhZqaKet4AaABAg this then gives the effortlessness, flexibility and ease but because we've built all the strength and compression in the earlier phases it allows the softening to happen without any loss of stability in the voice hope this helps

But I'm realizing that for me to enjoy this yt channel, I much prefer just showing everything if that makes sense. someone was asking me about my approach to get to these kinds of high ranged singing notes so I just off the cuff put the song on listened and went for it, no preparation, no previous practice of this song. so it is what it is. I could hide that or I could show it. I'm not really interested in trying to just present a 1 dimensional representation of my life 🤷‍♂️

      @@philmoufarrege I think UA-cam really needs this content, everyone is so deep into "perfect" sounds, everyone thinks you have to be in that perfect sound from the get go, or else everyone tells you you're straining.. Which leads people off track, and doing falsetto to no avail.

    • @philmoufarrege
      @philmoufarrege 26 днів тому

      It may be because you're assuming the problems you are having are meant to be fixed with it. A lot of people's issues are not actually stemming from breathing issues they are usually stemming from compression and larynx stability issues and they try to fix those with breathing exercises which doesn't work. That's why this video is just a preliminary step as opposed to the final answer. highly recommend watching the other videos I have.

      check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/7X-CFTg7F7A/v-deo.html&lc=Ugwy42ls61OuhZqaKet4AaABAg before softening the chest voice though you really gotta build enough strength with it loud and high up in the range, so if you're cracking then trying to soften it will probably only make the cracks worse as it will become more unstable. you gotta develop the chest strong and loud so that you don't have any cracks and can take it up high then once that's solid you can begin softening it.

    Hey, can you please answer? When i do "carry" my chest voice higher, i go into this nasally tinny quality. My chest voice stops at D4, but when i "carry" my chest voice higher into a "mix," I can do a C5. Doesnt sound good, but i can. However, its super inconsistent, and sometimes my chest voice kind of "breaks" into the "carry chest mix" and then the "carry chest mix" breaks into falsetto/head voice, just like chest voice breaks to head voice, albeit less dramatically. I have to be in a very loud volume and it cracks a LOT. I also need to be in a "tight" sort of feeling in my throat. Not tense, but tight. Kind of like im constricting air. Im so confused and frustrated. Isnt this "mix" supposed to help me smooth my vocal break? Instead this "mix" voice gets another break. It sounds like chest though, and it feels like its in the nose, or face. Ive been miserable these past few days because despite everything i cant leave this plateau.

    This is absolutely the best singing advice I found. Life-changing. I can sing higher without strain the more I train it makes me feel so happy. Gotta build the muscle 💪

    This is so interesting, this light chest voice you talk about, it seems my placement wants to change when its found. It feels like head voice placement, but in a chest voice quality. I take it that is the aim here.
